Unsolved Murders Have New Lead

Detectives investigating the murder of Chapel Hill, North Carolina resident and student body president college student Eve Carson have a new lead in the case. A man using her ATM card was photographed in two surveillance photos at the ATM machine in Chapel Hill but police would not say exactly when the pictures were taken. The man in the photos is wearing a baseball cap with a large star on the front and a hooded sweatshirt.

Eve Carson's body was found in the street after neighbors heard shots around 5:00 am. She had been shot several times, once in the right temple.

Just 500 miles away another Southern college student, Lauren Birk, a freshman at Auburn University was found shot to death off campus. Her car was later found on campus engulfed in flames.

Although police are hesitant to say the two crimes are connected there may be a link in these tragic, unsolved murders.
